LEARN TO SKATE CLASSES

Mission: "To provide a fun and positive experience that will instill a lifelong love of skating."

LEARN TO SKATE TEAM EVENT CLASS & COMPETITION

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: THURSDAY, APRIL 11

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED

  • The team competition event will be on Sunday, June 2 at a time to be determined
This is part of a three-day competition hosted by the Santa Fe Skating Club, so the exact time of the event will not be known until mid-May.

  • Skaters in the team event are grouped with 2 to 4 other Learn to Skate skaters at similar skating levels and compete as a group with each skater performing at least one skating skill.

  • Each team will have a team name and will be asked to dress up to match the team.
Skaters are responsible for their own outfit. Examples are: The Pajama Gang (wear pajamas); Silly Hats (wear silly hats); Rainbow Ballerinas (wear tutus). Teams will choose their names/themes on the first day of the team event class (April 27).

  • Practice and preparation for the Learn to Skate teams will take place on the following Saturdays – April 27, May 4, 11 at either 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM OR 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM. We will let you know what time your skater’s team will practice after registration closes. We will do our best to take preferences into account.

  • On Saturday, May 18 there will be a dress rehearsal for all teams at 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Attendance at practices is important. Please do not sign up if you know you will miss more than 1 class. The dress rehearsal on Saturday, May 18 is very important.

  • The fee for being on a Learn to Skate team is $164 per skater. (The fee is $184 for skaters who are not current Learn to Skate skaters or current Santa Fe Skating Club members.) There are no discounts for this class. The fee includes skate rental, ice time, coaches’ fees, and competition registration.

  • Adaptive/Therapeutic Skaters: There is a team event for the adaptive/therapeutic skaters. We do need at least 3 skaters to sign up to make a team. If we end up with less than 3 skaters, registered skaters can choose to have Santa Fe Skating Club coaches help them prepare for an adaptive compulsory moves event. Such an event requires a skater to perform certain required elements. Please talk to Learn to Skate Director Tammy Berendzen for more information. The fee for the adaptive team event is $70 per skater.

  • Registration is online only. The registration deadline is Thursday, April 11. No refunds will be given after April 11.
